About The Artists
Risa Taniguchi
Tokyo-born and based artist Risa Taniguchi has emerged at the forefront of the recent dark techno wave, cultivating a lo-fi sound over the past four years characterized by distorted textures, fizzing synths, and a quietly intense energy ideal for late-night, "weirdo" sets that induce nocturnal trances with unexpected twists, making her a perfect selector for those seeking dark, uninhibited environments. In both her studio work and DJ sets, Risa emphasizes driving drums with visceral kicks and uniquely addictive snares and hi-hats, often incorporating her signature subtle vocal samples alongside layers of acid bass and a raw, edgy aesthetic, influenced by her enduring love for underground UK bass sounds experienced during her time in London. This multi-talented artist, also a formally trained and daily piano player, has garnered significant attention since her 2018 debut, attracting support from A-list techno figures like Amelie Lens and Pan Pot, hitting Beatport's Leftfield Techno Chart, and performing at renowned venues globally, including De Marktkantine, Watergate, and Japan's top clubs. Despite the pandemic, Risa has maintained a prolific output on Pan Pot's Second State and Dense & Pika's Kneaded Pains, enabling her first major steps into the European scene with headline bookings, and in 2022, she collaborated with Black Asteroid for three hard-hitting techno tracks on Chris Liebing's CLR.
TonalTheory
Based in Washington, DC, USA, the self-taught producer/DJ duo TonalTheory has made a significant impact on the high-energy, percussive driving hard techno scene, blending their classical backgrounds with melodic influences to create a versatile and captivating sound that has earned them releases on notable labels such as Das Kollektive and support for their recent EP "Keep Me Blushin'" from industry titans like Dax J and Charlotte de Witte, alongside recognition in publications like KEYI Magazine and The Washington Post. Beyond their cutting-edge productions and relentless performances at warehouse raves, clubs, and festivals across North America, Europe, and Asia, where their cathartic hard-hitting techno leaves a lasting impression, TonalTheory actively cultivates their local DC music scene by hosting their signature label nights and collaborating with leading promoters, further solidifying their presence by sharing stages with techno and trance heavyweights and launching their own boundary-pushing label, Undertone, in 2021, all of which underscore their innovative approach, unwavering passion, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of techno.
Xiorro
While many have transitioned from Brooklyn to Berlin, few have charted a course as impactful as DJ, producer, and label head Xiorro, whose unparalleled presence and style in the underground have established him as a purveyor of revelry, beginning his artistic journey in Brooklyn's vibrant scene in 2017 with ALKHEMY and co-founding the beloved warehouse rave series The Black Hole before seamlessly becoming a fixture in Berlin's fervent club culture as a resident at RSO, continuing his previous residency from when the club was Griessmuehle. Fueled by a relentless dedication, Xiorro has cultivated a style blending endurance, mixing prowess, and meticulous selection, solidifying his reputation at RSO with extended sets during their renowned weekenders, showcasing his versatility to guide audiences through intimate experiences or power dance floors with fervent energy, a fusion of artistic finesse and his Puerto Rican heritage, distinguished by his self-taught musical ear for otherworldly vibrations and innate sense of drive and groove. His commitment to his unique interpretation of techno is further evidenced by the 2019 inception of his Whirlwind Trax label, featuring both his own work and label affiliates, and his continued creation of community within Berlin's ecosystem through the evolution of The Black Hole into the ULTRANOVA club night series at RSO in 2024.
