DVS1

DVS1, a highly respected figure in the global DJ scene, has built his reputation on a deep love for music, a commitment to preserving true club culture, and his formative experiences in the 1990s Midwest rave scene. His electrifying DJ sets, known for their energy and versatility, reflect both his roots and his mastery of various genres, from rare house to intense techno. His international acclaim has led him to perform at iconic venues like Berghain/Panorama Bar, where he is one of the few residents capable of seamlessly working both floors. DVS1’s performances are known for their ability to create an unforgettable, immersive experience that captivates audiences.

Born in St. Petersburg and raised in Minneapolis, DVS1, whose real name is Khutoretsky, grew up immersed in the DIY rave scene, throwing parties and building a massive music collection that now exceeds 30,000 records. His early reputation as a promoter and DJ gained momentum after releasing tracks on Klockworks and Transmat, propelling him beyond his local scene. DVS1’s HUSH collective, which started as a sound system and promotion outfit, eventually evolved into a label. His 2016 release, HUSH20, celebrated two decades of his work, and his contributions to techno were showcased on notable compilations like the Ostgut Ton Zehn and his Fabric 96 mix.

DVS1’s artistic vision extends beyond DJing. He has been a vocal advocate for the integrity of electronic music, often discussing issues such as the balance between art and entertainment, as well as promoting the importance of no-camera policies. In 2019, he launched the S.O.S. initiative, aimed at fostering community and supporting the values of dance music culture through discussions, panels, and actions that address key challenges facing the scene. DVS1 also co-founded MONOM in Berlin, a studio with one of only two 4DSOUND setups in the world, furthering his commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound. Whether through his work as a DJ, producer, or label manager, DVS1 remains an artist who honors his past while continuously looking forward to the future of electronic music.
