Sama' Abdulhadi was featured in a recent campaign advertisement for US presidential candidate and current US Vice President Kamala Harris.
The ad, posted on October 11th via Harris' official YouTube page, is titled "Like Detroit" and includes a brief clip of the Palestinian DJ at Movement festival. In an Instagram post, Abdulhadi called the use of her likeness "deeply offensive to my social, moral and political beliefs."
"The use of this footage implies that I endorse Vice President Harris' presidential candidacy, which is totally and utterly false," Abdulhadi wrote. She described the clip as "misleading political advertising by VP Harris' presidential campaign."
"For the avoidance of doubt, I do not endorse, nor have I ever endorsed Vice President Harris, and I am taking the necessary legal steps to ensure that this video is promptly retracted," she continued.
Harris is running against former president Donald Trump, with election day set for November 5th.
