Cindy Charles, head of music at video live-streaming service Twitch, has died aged 69.

Twitch CEO Daniel Clancy broke the news on X last Friday, October 18th, revealing that Charles was killed in a traffic accident in Amsterdam the previous day. She was in the Dutch capital to talk on a panel for Amsterdam Dance Event.

"Most of the members of the Twitch community are probably not familiar with Cindy's work," Clancy wrote."But she has been leading our team that manages our relationship with the music industry. Cindy has a deep history in the music business and she has been critical in creating the strong relationships that we have today."

New York-born Charles was instrumental in negotiating a licensing agreement with several major record labels that enables DJs to livestream their music. "Anyone that uses music on Twitch owes a debt of gratitude to Cindy's work," Clancy continued. "I know everyone that has worked with her was shocked to hear the news. We will all dearly miss her."
