The festival spans three days of diverse and authentic curation on Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26, 2025) inside the picturesque Hart Plaza at downtown Detroit’s riverfront. Since its inception, the event has sought to provide fans with programming that demonstrates the wide breadth of electronic music, ranging from dance music’s most in-demand artists, underground trailblazers, and breakthrough newcomers; a powerhouse blend of seasoned vets and future generations of electronic music. At its core, Movement is a reverence for the local roots of the culture, celebrating Detroit’s legacy as Techno’s home.
This year’s showcases will include festival favorites Carl Craig’s traveling party series Detroit Love, Kevin Saunderon’s KMS Records, DJ Minx’s House Your Life, and the first-ever Underground Music Academy (UMA) Showcase. Founded by acclaimed DJ and producer Waajeed, UMA is a Detroit-based community hub that aims to build the future leaders of electronic music through its distinctive educational curriculum and mentorship model, rooted in Detroit’s Black electronic music legacy.
