Kevin Saunderson has released a new e-Dancer track alongside a new collaborator: his son, Dantiez. The song, "Melodica," featured on BBCMusic6 today.
Saunderson debuted his e-Dancer alias in the '90s, releasing the album Heavenly in 1998. It's now regarded as a fundamental LP in the story of Detroit techno, and has received remixes from artists like Juan Atkins and Kenny Larkin.
Saunderson and his son previously worked together when Saunderson's group Inner City returned in 2019, performing a series of shows and releasing a new album after a nearly 30-year hiatus.
"Dantiez sounds like me. Working on this next generation of e-Dancer with him, I'm more passionate and energetic than ever," Kevin Saunderson said. "This is about me, the pioneer, passing the torch to carry the legacy. I know it's in Dantiez's DNA. I know he’s ready."
"When people hear the new music, I hope they feel the elevation and the synergy between the original e-Dancer and the new iteration," Dantiez added.
