Michael Bibi has donated more than £120,000 worth of earnings made after his recent comeback show at Finsbury Park to a cancer charity.
Bibi was diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma in June 2023, a rare cancer that affects the spine and brain. He was given the all-clear in December.
Now over a year since his diagnosis, Bibi has donated £124,832 to the hospital where he underwent treatment, and still returns today for regular checkups.
“Today I visited the Royal Marsden for my regular checkups and to present the staff with the money we raised from the One Life show at Finsbury Park,” Bibi wrote in an Instagram post alongside a photo of him and hospital staff holding a cheque.
n July, Michael Bibi played a homecoming show at London’s Finsbury Park under the name One Life, billed as London’s “biggest ever electronic show”. It also marked Bibi’s first big show since his recovery.
“To everyone that was part of this show thankyou for making this possible, through dancing we have directly helped other people like myself & are helping to make a difference in saving more lives,” he said on Instagram. “My heart is full, thankyou.”
The sold-out event saw around 45,000 in attendance, with a stem cell transplant charity on site to help recruit attendees to sign up to the stem cell register.
The Anthony Nolan works to match those in need of stem cell transplant with potential donors. Ahead of Bibi’s One Life gig, the organisation said: “Your stem cells could hold the key to someone's survival and that starts with a simple swab.”
