Seedj Offers A Meritocratic Platform For Connecting Artists With Labels And Promoters
The platform is giving emerging talent a path into the electronic music industry.
In today’s music landscape, breaking through as a DJ or producer often feels like shouting into the void. Great music can get buried, opportunities feel out of reach, and without the right connections or a large online following, many promising artists remain unheard. Seedj seeks to address this challenge by providing a platform that offers a more meritocratic route to exposure and professional opportunities.
Launched in 2021, Seedj connects DJs and producers with labels, promoters, and venues through a contest-driven system. Since its inception, it has partnered with more than 350 organisations across the global electronic music scene. According to the platform, roughly one in every 15 subscribed artists has secured a professional opportunity through the service.
The process is straightforward: DJs submit mixes, producers upload tracks, and when a partner finds a match, the artist is selected. This model prioritises musical fit and quality over social media reach or algorithmic ranking.
Contests have taken place across South Africa, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and North America, resulting in artists gaining access to venues such as WOMB Tokyo, Radion Amsterdam, Anomalie Berlin, Gotec Club in Karlsruhe, and Now&Wow Rotterdam, through collaborations with the likes of 240km/h, Muud Movement, HATE, The Industry, and Marvellous Festivals.
Postparanoia, a DJ and producer from Italy, used the platform to apply for a contest hosted by Muud, a South African promoter:
“Thanks to Seedj, I had the incredible opportunity to perform at And Club as an independent artist after winning one of their daily contests. Their commitment to supporting emerging talent through a truly meritocratic and transparent platform is unmatched.”

Seedj also runs targeted initiatives to promote inclusivity, collaborating with Riot to support FLINTA artists and with Gegen to offer opportunities for queer-identifying artists.
As the music industry continues to evolve, platforms like Seedj highlight how some artists are turning to alternative systems to navigate the challenges of getting their work in front of the right audiences.
