Akai Pro has announced an update to its MPC OS, adding stem separation technology to compatible standalone MPC hardware.
Earlier this year, Akai announced stem separation tech would be coming to its MPC software, meaning producers and artists can stem separate elements like vocals, bass, drums and more, chop them up, re-arrange and re-trigger them independently.
Stem separation’s addition to compatible hardware — namely the MPC Live Series, MPC One, MPC One+, MPC X, MPC Xse, MPC Key 61, MPC Key 37, and MPC Studio Mk2 — makes it one of the first times the technology has been available without a laptop, giving producers access to any drum loop, break, acapella and instrumental without the need for record digging.
The tech is powered by DSP company zplane and is an add-on that costs $9.99. Find out more on the Akai Pro website.
