Although we sadly hear about officials trying to crack down on nightlife rather than understanding the economic and artistic importance on their community, we all know that they will never stop us from raving.

Festivals are getting longer and cities across America are starting to extend the hours that alcohol can be sold and bars can be open. Whether you live in a city with 24-hour clubs and venues, or somewhere where after-hours are rampant, we all know that there’s plenty of opportunities to keep the party going (if you want it to!).
Recently, festivals such as Coachella and Electric Forest extended to 2 weekends, with Electric Forest already running for up to 5 days. Burning Man is a marathon of physical and mental strength as it is, while the recent rendition of Oregon Eclipse also lasted 7 days.
Local LA and San Diego favorite crewDesert Hearts throws a 72-hour non-stop music and partying festival every year and promoters are throwing more and more marathon parties than ever. Then you get monster events such as Amsterdam Dance Event, Miami Music Week and the like which allow party-goers to keep partying for days, hopping from one party to the other.
It isn’t always easy to get an adequate amount of sleep during these festivals and events, especially if you’ve been drinking copious amounts of alcohol and partaking in the use of illicit substances.
Luckily, there are ways to recover from benders like these. In this post, we’ll share our top 5 tips for recovering from a party weekend.
5 Ways To Rapidly Recover From A Bender Weekend
If you do decide to drink alcohol and partake in recreational drug use, then it is obviously best to always stay hydrated and eat healthy.
Drink one or two glasses of water with every alcoholic drink and make sure to eat regularly whether you are hungry or not.
Always make sure that you get as much sleep as possible and try to find quiet areas if you are at a festival to nap and take breaks.
Read on to learn more about how to quickly recover from a weekend of partying.
1. Drink Water
When everything is said and done, one of the most key pieces of advice is to start drinking as much water as possible as early as possible. This will prepare yourself for the partying to come, along with stretches and a well-balanced, nutritious meal.
Drinking a glass of warm water with lemon first thing in the morning, as well as drinking coconut water, helps to calm down the heat that your body produces during heavy periods of:
- Drinking
- Drug use
- Dancing
Water with electrolytes is best and it is also a good idea to consume foods with lots of potassium such as bananas.
2. Eat Healthy
It is also best to eat small meals that won’t overwhelm your digestive system such as:
- Vegetable soups
- Stir fry
- Light curries
- Congee
- Plain quinoa
- Kicheri
These will allow your liver to recoup.
Teas such as Yogi’s Detox Tea and Breathe Easy can also help rid toxins out of your body and clear out your lungs from any dust you might have ingested. Green Tea is also great to get antioxidants into your system.
Drink at least 2-3 cups a day for a week to get the bad out of your system and the good into it. Vitamins, fruits and vegetables, yogurt, and probiotics can also help accelerate the detoxification process.
Finally, Sprite with antacid can help alleviate nausea and help with a hangover. Avoid caffeine at all costs!
3. 5HTP
5htp or 5-Hydroxytryptophan can be purchased at any pharmacy, GNC or health food store. It’s a naturally-occurring chemical in the body and a building block to serotonin.
This is the neurotransmitter that helps moderate the transmissions of signals between nerve cells. It can help to replenish your serotonin levels after ingesting MDMA.
4. Exercise
Doing yoga or going for a walk outside to get some fresh air and sunlight can help tremendously. It’s a much better idea than just passing out immediately after your get home from a weekend partying. This is especially important if you have spent quite a bit of time in a dark club or warehouse throughout the weekend.
Exercise is also essential to help increase blood flow and supply oxygen to the area your body needs it most, your brain.
5. No Shame
Don’t feel guilty about what has already been done. You can’t change or control your past and you’ve already made the decision to do whatever it is you were doing, so don’t have any regrets about it.
Focus on what you can do in the present and what you can do in the future to avoid feeling badly the next day. Imagine that you feel great or imagine a time when you did and try to focus on those thoughts instead of focusing on negative emotions or the past.
The key is to remember how awesome the past weekend was instead of how bad you feel the day or days after. Talk about the weekend with friends that are always happy and positive and look at pictures and/or read positive reviews about the party.
Most importantly, remember how much fun you had and how great of a time it was! Don’t focus on how you are feeling the day or days after, just focus on getting rest and drinking plenty of fluids. Try your best to limit your alcohol and drug intake the next weekend you decide to go on a bender.
Recovering From Partying Is A Marathon, Not A Sprint
While feeling like hot garbage after a weekend of partying can be expected, it is entirely up to you to recognize it as a natural part of your partying activities.
It’s also up to you to do your part in keeping your body healthy and to put it through the necessary recovery process to bring it back to tip-top conditions.
Remember, recovering from a weekend of partying is always a marathon, not a race.
