Dead Language is the techno project of Durham based DJ, producer and promoter Johan Yardan. Desiring to create a space for abstract, genre-bending techno experiences, Johan founded “KINETIC AUDIO” in 2022. Through its events and outreach, Kinetic Audio has created a safe space for artists to express themselves without the pressure of conforming to commercial expectations. Through helping others find themselves musically, Johan’s style has matured as well, emphasizing swirling, layered textures and momentum focused percussion. He sits at the intersection of industrial, experimental, and tribal techno; at times a gradient, at others a point. Taking influences from artists like Robert Hood, Oscar Mulero and Richie Hawtin, Johan seeks techno that doesn’t tell you what to feel, it only asks that you explore.
