Today both of these artists get down with SIX AM to share their journey through the techno world.
Hi Alavei & Famin! Thanks for talking to SIX AM how are you doing?
Alavei: Yeah, I'm doing great actually. Just released a new track recently which I'm thrilled to share with the world.
FAMIN: Thanks so much for bringing us here, and I am doing well. Actually, my life is going so well after releasing "Sapiro." It was my favorite creation so far, and I was also happy to release it through the really solid label 2ymedio.
So for starters where are you both from and what would you say are your biggest artistic influences? For anyone that doesn’t know how would you describe your individual sounds?
Alavei:Well, I'm from Bangladesh. Artists like Deadmau5 and Charlotte De Witte has been my biggest artistic influences. If I had to describe my sound, I would say it is all about hard hitting kicks and dark atmospheric soundscapes.
Famin:I'm from Bangladesh. Actually, my musical taste changes over time in unexpected ways, but right now my artistic influences are totally underground. Ive been heavily influenced by the electronic music being played in places like Tulum, EDC, and Ibiza. These are the places I dream of playing at, so I guess I have a natural attraction to the afrohouse/tech house/deep house/melodic techno scene.
You both are going to have a collaboration coming up titled “Sapiro”. What’s the meaning behind the name? And what kind of vibe would you describe the listener will feel?
Alavei: When I was working on this project for the first time, after working some times, I got exhausted, and I just wanted to take a break, so I saved my cubase project with this random name. I typed "Sapiro," and the next day, when I was listening to this track, I felt like the way the track was sounding was a good fit for the name "Sapiro." Then I told Famin about it, and he instantly agreed.
The track will give the listener a dark, horrific vibe. Haha
Have you worked together before on any other tracks? How did you two connect with each other?
Alavei: We have known each other for a while, thanks to our local producer community. After working on various projects together, Sapiro is the official collaboration that is released.
Famin: We actually met online back in September 2022. I explore Alavei through his nice production. Specially when I decided to move to Techno, I DMed him and shared my techno ideas and stuff. Then we became really good friends after having the same interests and plans. In October 2022, we did our first collab, which came out, 'Sapiro'. So Sapiro was our first collaboration, and we did it well.
What inspired you to work on this particular track? Was this collaborative process any different than anything you’ve worked on by yourselves?
Famin: In October 2022, we explore Hi Lo (Oliver Hendens), and we both love his track Kronos. Then I explore more techno bangers and start writing some techno ideas. The raw idea of Sapiro was inspired by "Kronos" by Hi Lo.
The creative process actually has an odd story to it. Sapiro was born from anxiety and tiredness. I think it was a rainy evening. I had no idea what to write, like I was lacking motivation. Then I closed my door and watched some HILO live sets, which inspired me so much. I heard his track, Kronos, there. Then I imagined writing something that he could play in his set. After an hour, the raw idea of Sapiro came out. Then I sent a raw melody to Alavei, and he did his magic.
Alavei: As I told Famin about Oliver Heldens Techno Alis HiLo, he watched some of his shows and listened to some of his popular tracks, including "Kronos'." Then he got motivated. After some days, Famin sent me the raw melody of Sapiro, and then I started doing my things with it, like adding different elements and changing chords until I felt it was good. Hundreds of ideas were implemented, and then we have the ultimate product, which is "Sapiro."
Do you guys have any plans to work on anything else in the future?
They both said: For now, we are actually poised to do more techno tracks and take our name to big stages. After Sapiro, we also finished our second collaboration (coming soon).
Thanks so much for talking with us, is there anything else you’d like to share?
Alavei: I want to thank 6 AM for this interview. It was amazing. And for future plans, I have no idea; maybe I want to keep doing what I am doing right now. HAHA.
FAMIN : I would love to share some tips for those beginners who really want to start out and improve as fast as I did. If you want to be clear on exactly what you want to do, theres a famous graph that says the amount of time you spend messing around will be equal to the amount of time you spend finding out. Therefore, do what I did and just mess around with no limits or direction, and you will eventually discover what you like and dislike. It's not the only way to figure out your potential, but it does work very effectively for me.
