Check out Ornery's vision for 2024

With 2024 off to an exciting start, we’re looking forward to seeing what the next year will bring for fans of Electronic Music. Sure to be filled with countless releases, numerous live shows, and several thrilling moments, we cannot wait to discover what the Producers and DJs of the genre have lined up for the next 12 months.
So, today, Ornery is here with this exclusive interview, sharing his goals, plans, and creative ambitions for 2024.
What musical direction or theme are you most excited to explore in your upcoming projects for the new year, and why does it resonate with you?
I certainly want to keep refining my characteristic Melodic/Progressive sound, just making it even more impactful and memorable. At the same time, I definitely want to explore the peak time sound more: it’s something that I always enjoyed, and sometimes explored both in my sets and productions. Essentially, I just think it adds to your versatility as an artist.
Another thing that I want to do is develop a live set with all my own material (old and new) and be able to perform it, maybe with a visual component to it. I think that’s something that would fit very well with my profile, being that I love to “produce on stage” and manipulate music as much as I can!
As you enter the new year, what goals have you set for your music career, and how do you plan to work towards achieving them?
For me, keeping releasing on quality labels is still the main goal: I have a few on my list that I want to work with, and I’m confident it will happen this year!
The second thing is definitely bookings: I’m planning both to work closer with the labels I’ve with worked before and organize my own events as well.
Can you provide a glimpse into any specific releases or milestones we can expect from you in the early months of the new year?
For the beginning of the year, I have a remix coming out on a very cool label I haven’t worked with before; then the second release on my brand-new “Daydreaming” imprint with a few new artists; a couple of new collaborations that should be officially signed any day now; and last but not least a showcase in London that will be announced in the next few weeks!
Reflecting on your musical journey, what lessons from the past year do you intend to carry forward to ensure growth and success in the new year?
I think an important lesson is just having patience, and sometimes we all forget that in many phases of life, not only in music. Things take time to evolve and develop, progress doesn’t always follow a straight line, and every person approaches and deals with things in a different way.
Are there any new techniques, equipment, or software innovations you plan to incorporate into your music production process in the new year?
As far as techniques, I would just say reduction. Use fewer elements, sculpt them and design them even more. It’s something that I already do, but I think there’s always more space for improvement.
As far as equipment, definitely Ableton Push 3, which I got just recently. I really want to incorporate it both in my studio workflow but also as the base of my live set, which is currently in development.
As for software innovations, I’m obviously fascinated by all the innovations that AI has brought to the table, and I want to see how we can use those tools while still maintaining a human touch.
Are there any artists you hope to collaborate with in the coming year, and what kind of creative synergy do you envision?
I don’t have any specific names in mind at the moment, but I’m truly open to any kind of collaboration! I’ve actually started collaborating more frequently only in the last year or so, and I think it’s always a great opportunity to create a “sum of the parts” that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.
How do you see your sound evolving in the new year? Are there any genres or musical elements you aim to incorporate or experiment with?
I see my sound and style maintaining a clear identity but at the same time, as I said earlier, always evolving and progressing. It’s a never-ending journey.
As far as musical elements, I would really like to work more with singers and utilize vocals as the initial inspiration for a new track. It’s something that I have almost never done in the past, and I think it would create some interesting results and maybe make me learn new approaches and ways to build a track.
How do you plan to manage your time and resources effectively to pursue your musical ambitions?
Lots of studio work as usual, as I think that’s still “the foundation” of everything. A healthy lifestyle, which is something that I’ve grown more and more into in the last few years, and last but not least a good endurance workout. I think that this balance really gives me the energy to fully focus on music, and at the same time it lets me step out of it as needed.
What do you hope your music will communicate or evoke in your listeners in the new year? Is there a particular message or emotion you wish to convey through your work?
Simply a feeling of escapism, joy, and daydreaming. Those are the feelings I try to convey when I create my music, and I always hope the audience is able to experience them as well. I think that’s the essence of Electronic Music, and it’s still very central to what I do.
As you step into the new year, what are your overall aspirations as a DJ/Producer, and what impact do you hope to have on the Electronic music industry and your audience?
The overall aspiration is to enjoy this crazy journey that I’m lucky to experience at this very moment! Simply keep growing as an Artist, discover new things, create new musical bridges that didn’t exist before, and reach more people who love music as much as I do.
As we conclude our conversation with Ornery, we’re eagerly anticipating the next chapter in his musical journey; with a clear determination to keep growing and evolving as an Artist, we’re sure the next year of creativity will bring even more thrilling moments to his fans.
