Hi D-Unity! Thanks for taking the time to talk to 6AM, how are you doing?
Hey Guys! Doing perfect! Thanks for having me back!
You have a new EP coming out in April which is a collab with Atroxx. What can you tell us about the EP? Since this was a collaborative effort was the creative process on this EP different than your normal work?
Me and Atroxx usually don’t spend a lot of time locked up in the same apartment for a month haha. This was our first time hanging together in Mexico for this long so we couldn’t miss the opportunity of getting some magic done in the studio.
We had so much fun making this EP together, and when I heard the original, I already knew how I could use those big room vocals and direct them towards a more groovy rhythm while keeping the big room sound still in tact. Normally it’s not as tribal as some of my other remixes but i felt like with these vocals, we needed a bit more of a big room sound :)
How did the idea to work with Gino/Atroxx come about? What’s your favorite thing about working with Atroxx? What’s your favorite thing about working with others in general?
I’ve known Atroxx for probably close to 10 years now and I gotta say I don’t think we ever had a bad time together :) . The flow is really there and a lot of things “click” while working on projects together. The remix probably took me only a few hours to finish as I already knew where I was going to take this track. Usually when it comes to remixes or collabs, it’s long distance for me with most artists so it was very special to have Atroxx in Mexico with me working together on this EP.
Perhaps it’s not well known amongst our audience, but we know that you are good friends with Atroxx. How does the collaborative process change when working with a close friend? Or does it not change at all and if so why?
It’s definitely a huge difference, and as I mentioned previously things just flow much easier in my opinion. There’s really no keeping secrets when it comes to music production for us and sometimes we work with one another showing eachothers techniques or arrangement ideas which is always a plus. The flow here was very important and once the project got started, it was finished within few hours, maybe with 2 extra hours of some final polishing :)

With this EP what distincts sounds did you both bring into this work and how did you make it work together to create a fully unique release? What do you hope that the audience will feel when they hear these tracks on the dancefloor?
I wanted to go for a more big room techno idea here. With my remix having a more groovy twist with some cool sounding synth patterns and of course the looped Vox. Thats mainly what’s driving the whole track.
Atroxx’s original mix is a true Atroxx track. Hes got that fierce and agressive sound in his track which I immediately loved since i heard it the first time.
Both tracks in my opinion have a nice big room peak time sound and both equally should destroy dancefloors. With my remix being more on a groovier side which could work well as a bridge track towards different genres when mixing but hey why don’t you guys decide hehe :)
Thanks so much for talking to us, is there anything new on the horizon for you? Anything else you would like to add?
Thanks for having me once again guys! Keep on rocking with the new content!
And Yes absolutely! With my upcoming release with Atroxx, be sure to catch me in Asia performing in some of my favorite clubs! Also be on the lookout for more D-Unity European dates in the summer and another USA tour coming in october and november! See ya on the dancefloor!
