Boom Merchant lands on Simina Grigoriu's record label, Kuukou, with a gritty two-track techno release, Peer Pressure.

Making his debut on Kuukou, Boom Merchant is an Irish artist based in Mexico, and he is highly respected for his distinctive style of techno innovation.

This release is testament to Boom Merchant’s forward-thinking approach to making techno, as he is known for layering hypnotic drums with quirky samples and melodies often associated with other genres.

“Peer Pressure” is a more traditional techno track, combining an arpeggio synth loop with swirling drums, using modulation and subtle changes to create swells of energy.

“Arco” on the other hand is quite unique, as it combines a haunting female vocal with trance chords washed in delay. The rigid drums and murky atmospherics ensure it firmly remains within the techno category, but there are crossover sounds taken from other genres.

We have no doubt both the tracks on this release will have already received DJ support from Simina Grigoriu, and it has also found favour with the likes of Pan-Pot.
