It’s already proving to be a busy 2025 for Boom Merchant who started the year with releases on Autektone and Eclipse. This latest release comes from his own record label Tribal Pulse, and it combines an organic percussion loop with soulful vocal phrases and the tension of a swelling pad.

 

“The Question” still has the dance floor orientated energy of Boom Merchant’s usual sound, but this time he opts for a looser groove with more of a shoulder shuffle than fist pumping aggression. Boom Merchant recently relocated from the UK to Mexico, and this track has a warm and upbeat feel that matches the climate of his new home.

 

Homma Honganji is a Japanese artist who has frequented Tribal Pulse previously, and he switches the original’s organic drums with the percussion of a drum machine. He throws in some live fills to keep the flow of the original intact, but boosts the tempo to lift the energy and increase the intensity.
