Hot on the tails of Shadow Wulf’s last behemoth of a release, comes a massive EP from the collaboration of one of their top artists, Carbon, and one of Shadow Wulf’s co-founders - label boss Crescendoll. Waking Up brings together two peak-time heavy hitters with a cool and groovy minimal remix from hot new artist San Nicolas.
The title track "Waking Up" brings together infectious groove and bass with epic synth leads and dark male vocals speaking on the subject of a dark club room atmosphere, losing oneself in the music, and the strange kind of alienation that can be felt even in such a full room. The breakdown and build-up draws influences from 80s arp synth sound design. "Devour You" keeps up this top energy with dark female vocals musing about compulsive interactions that inevitably end in mutual intentional delicious destruction. Exciting and fierce synth stabs feature among a cool driving bass groove, and an oscillating pad with melodic touch and unique development features in the break.
German artist Riewert Peterson, aka Carbon, has a fresh and groovy take on minimal techno, with incredibly dynamic and captivating tracks that move dance floors without fail. His music has been featured on heavyweight labels like Senso Sounds, Alula Tunes, Subios, AlpaKa MuziK, Techgnosis, DENSE AUDIO, Dark Face Recordings, MoonBootique, Visceral, Soupherb and many more). Carbon performs all over the world year round, and recently he was featured at Fabric Live (UK)
Often dubbed “the hellfire queen of gutter techno”, Shadow Wulf’s Erin Parisi , aka Crescendoll, brings a unique blend of minimal psytechno to the global dance scene. Her sounds are characterized by eerie melodies, driving rhythms, growling gutter grooves, psychedelic progressions, and a signature darkness. Crescendoll is based in the USA but performs globally, and has been featured at shows in Western Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, Guatemala, and across North America (including Mexico and Canada). She has published her tracks on her labels, as well as Alula Tunes, Subios, AlpaKa MuziK, Techgnosis, Soupherb, DENSE AUDIO, Frisson Records, and many more – and has collaborated with notable artists Carbon, Lampé, Peter Groskreutz, Egomorph, TiM TASTE, Maksim Dark, Electrypnose, APHE, I Speak Machine, etc.
Remix artist on the Waking Up EP - San Nicolas - is a producer from Uruguay, who after following a life-long journey with music, started down a new path in minimal techno and musical production in 2019. After a series of releases, in 2023 he won the music production competition organized by Beatport together with Alula Tunes. This began to give clear visibility to his music and name. Today he has signed his music to many highly acclaimed record labels in the genre, and is beginning to fulfill his most cherished dream. He’s performed on all 5 continents, with two recent tours in Guatemala (Central America) and India.
Carbon and Crescendoll’s Waking Up [EP] on Shadow Wulf is currently available for pre-order purchase exclusively on Beatport, and will be available in all stores in the coming weeks. This will be Carbon’s fourth release on the label, Crescendoll’s ninth, and San Nicolas’ second.
