2023 was a landmark year for Carla Durisch who reportedly played over 90 gigs in countries including Indonesia, Spain, Germany and America. Carla Durisch also played regular gigs in her native Switzerland, where she also runs her own events series linked to her new record label.
THRPY’s first release is a single from Carla Durisch called Moist, and it shows a darker side of her sound in comparison to the Crosstown Rebels EP she put out last year.
Her 2023 debut on Crosstown Rebels included a remix by the iconic Seth Troxler, and her new track “Moist” is a raw sounding work with a bassline inspired by classic electro. It still has some of the melodic elements that Carla put on display via Crosstown Rebels, but it explores fast-paced rhythms and avoids extended breakdowns to ensure the dance floor is always kept moving.
Music plays a big part in Carla Durisch’s life, and she feels that her passion for sound helps her maintain mental wellbeing. THRPY is a play on the word “Therapy” because she feels that music is her therapy, and a welcome distraction from the daily stresses of modern life.
In Carla Durisch’s own words: “Music, dancing, and clubbing have always been my lifelong therapeutic companions. Club culture, like no other art form, creates a unique haven where individuals of diverse backgrounds, generations, unconventional lifestyles, and orientations can find their own space of freedom.”
