Georgia Lee makes a return to Gain Records with her new techno single, “Out of the Dark,” which is accompanied by three remixes in a range of styles.
The original track is dark and driving with peak time energy. There is a pummelling techno remix by Alex Nocera, plus an indie dance remix by Produkkt, and a nu-disco remix by D Lewis.
It’s a dynamic release that centres around techno, while also showcasing the skills of remixers from other genres. All of the artists have roots in Italy, and each of them is an accomplished producer within their chosen genre.
Giving a statement about her new release, Georgia Lee said: “Out of the Dark” is a track dedicated to all those who are still with us, fighting every day the pain of their human and spiritual losses. It is an introspective work based on the fusion of cosmic and dark techno sounds that slowly evolves until it reaches its inevitable sonic and empathetic resolution. It aims to be a metaphysical bridge to transform suffering into medicine, hope, and energy after the unfillable void of loneliness. The three remixes made by Alex Nocera, Produkkt, and D Lewis, represent a progression to reach the light."
Each of the remixes on this release does exactly what Georgia Lee says, as Alex Nocera takes things darker, then the following two get more uplifting and feel good, until we get the Todd Terje-esque finish from D Lewis.
On a whole, this seems like a release where most people will gravitate towards a single track that matches their personal taste, rather than buy the whole release. Although, each track is very well produced, and it does deserve to be heard in full from start to finish.
