The enigmatic realm of Kaufmann thrives from midnight to sunrise. Rooted in the esoteric realms of dark minimal and hypnotic techno, converged with the otherworldly weight of psychedelia and rave. Kaufmann's alchemical approach to music production and uncompromising devotion to cutting-edge techno has been the driving force behind her signing with Stil Vor Talent, SensoSounds and Alula Tunes, with her affiliations crossing over the families of Dazed State, Subios Records, Rebellion der Träumer and Einmusika. A reigning figure on the German club circuit, Kaufmann also features annually on the mainstages of her home country’s revered Fusion Festival, while frequently ensnaring audiences on international expeditions.
In Hit The Toad, Kaufmann follows her tried and tested recipe: lots of energy, ear candy, psy elements, and loads of fun. At the beginning of the process was the vocal, and she plays with these vocals using AI tools until, as she says, she “violated it so much it started to sound a bit like Miley Cyrus”. However, this was the moment she was satisfied with it. The other leading element was the top bass groove, which gives the whole track its dynamic, and sets the tone for the overall feel. The rest of the elements then fit naturally into the existing gaps and provide the energy, structure, and groove.
Says Lisa “For me, the MVP is the vocal. Shout out to my toad-licking crowd out there, and the gibberish they produce!”
This will be Kaufmann’s first release on Shadow Wulf, and also features two remixes from Akari System (Japan), and SW co-founder Crescendoll (USA).
