Open Your Mind is a two-track techno release by Ilona Maras, and it’s out now on The YellowHeads’ record label, Reload Black.
Ilona Maras’ has had a massive year in 2025, after starting with her debut on Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave, she followed up with a debut on Victor Ruiz's VOLTA. She continues her impressive run of releases with this debut on The YellowHeads’ Reload Black, and both tracks are in her usual style.
She is a masterful producer whose tracks ignite a dance floor with their mix of fiery percussion and flaring synth lines. This is the same style she touts in her DJ sets, and she is resident at Zurich’s Hive Club in Switzerland. Ilona Maras’ is also a popular headline DJ, playing at venues across Europe.
The title track, “Open Your Mind” has a juddering bassline and rattling hi-hats surrounding a sparkling melody, but it’s the trippy vocals and acid bursts that are the main focus of the hulking groove.
On the flip side, “Captive” is all about the smouldering bassline that grows suspense as the track unfolds. Tense melody, rolling snares, and warped vocals augment this monstrous track, which is ready to take dance floors by storm.
