New VA Weapons Out on Boom Merchant's Tribal Pulse
The release includes 10 tracks that cover a broad swath of the techno genre.
Manufacturers of Modern Dancefloor Weaponry is a statement title for a new compilation that’s out now on Boom Merchant’s record label, Tribal Pulse.
The release includes 10 tracks that cover a broad swath of the techno genre, also overlapping into breakbeat and ambient. Most of the tracks are aimed at the dance floor, but “Model 706-8073421” by Fragile X is an ambient exception.
Bound together by their gritty drums, mammoth basslines, and looming atmospherics, this release is dynamic and intricate. Techno has some timeless elements, and this release embraces those, while also working in a modern twist.
Those providing tracks to this release are Obsidian Wave, Boom Merchant, Fractious, Calum Connell, Moog Conspiracy, Iluna, Homma Honganji, Lefrenk, Hockins, and the aforementioned Fragile X. Many of the artists have featured on Tribal Pulse in the past, but a few are making their debut on the imprint.
Fractious, Iluna, Calum Connell, and Moog Conspiracy, are all featuring on Tribal Pulse for the first time, and they have a proven pedigree. Iluna is making her first ever release, but the other three have worked with the likes of Kneaded Pains, CMND CTRL, and Tronic.
Each of the compilation’s tracks have standout qualities, backed up by DJ support from The Advent, DVS1, Arnaud Le Texier, Marcel Dettmann, James Ruskin, and many others.
The DJ support gives a good indication of what to expect from the style of this raw techno release, but there are breaks tracks by Hockins and Obsidian Wave, plus the interesting, ambient closing track.
