Danny Avila and Heerhost Join Forces on Their Newest 1605 Release
UMEK’s 1605 is back with another driving techno release in the style that the record label has made its trademark. This latest release is a debut collaboration between Danny Avila and Heerhorst who have both released solo tracks as part of the 1605 back catalogue.
Danny Avila hosts the Mainstage Techno radio show and associated record label. He is a well-respected headline DJ who had first made a name for himself as a big room/EDM artist, but he has transitioned that big room energy into making dark and pounding techno. Along with 1605, Danny Avila has also featured on other respected techno imprints such as Filth On Acid.
Heerhorst is a highly accomplished producer who has featured music on record labels including Drumcode, Terminal M and Codex. This is the first time he has teamed up with Danny Avila, but along with his numerous solo productions, he has also worked with others such as Teenage Mutants and Indira Paganotto.
Opening the release is the upbeat vibe and diving energy of “The Procedure” which orientates around a hip hop/grime influenced vocal sample that is fused with old-school acid stabs. It’s got a party starting vibe that might not be the most underground, but it’s a still a fierce track that will no doubt be heard in many a peak time techno set.
“Dynasty” is a lot darker and more underground, which gives some nice contrast to its predecessor. It’s got a cinematic vocal sample that gives the breakdown a truly epic sound that is heightened by compelling vocals and pushed forward by high-paced rhythms and a pulsating bassline.
Fans of peak time techno will likely find it hard to pick a favorite on this festival ready release that sounds like it’s been tailor made for mainstage DJ sets.
