Goldie has hinted that he may retire after he turns 60 next month.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 6’s Music Breakfast Show earlier today (August 7), the drum ‘n’ bass legend explained: “I’m going to hang my gloves up and be 60”.
“Next year will probably be my last year, I think,” he said. “I don’t wanna be wheeled out! Here he is, dribbling on stage,” he joked.
He went on to speak about his forthcoming record, which follows a recent album alongside Rufige Kru released in May, ‘Alpha Omega’, on London Records.
Goldie alluded that his next album could be his last, explaining: “I want to go out with a really big album, you know what I mean?”
The show also celebrates 30 years of Goldie’s debut studio album, ‘Timeless’. Speaking on the impact of the record, Goldie explained: “I was so angry with music at the time in general, I’m more forgiving of it now. Without pop culture, you wouldn’t have anything.”
“If you listen to ‘Angel’ now, it sounds like a normal pop record! It was so far ahead, it seems almost conventional,” he says.
