Moog Music has launched a free synth education video series called Synthesizing with Moog.
Inspired by Carl Sagan's iconic 1980 PBS series, Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, the series takes a broad, beginner-friendly look at sound and synthesis.
Hosted by Moog's product specialist, Chris Miller, the series spans seven episodes and begins in the 20th century with the birth of electronic sound and the Minimoog Model D, the world's first portable synth. The first episode, Listening, explores modular design, voltage control and how synthesisers work.
Watch the first episode via YouTube below, and check back on Wednesday (15th October) for the next episode. Find out more info about the series here.
Last year saw the publication of a new book exploring the history of the Minimoog, The Minimoog Book.
In May, Moog unveiled a new entry-level synth, the Moog Messenger, described as a mono analogue synth updated with "modern features".
In 2024, Moog — who celebrated its 60th birthday that year with a string of concerts — released several new pieces of gear, including the flagship analogue poly synth, Muse, the Labyrinth semi-modular synth and the semi-modular filter bank, Spectravox.
