Nino Blink Makes Elektrotribe Debut with ‘Headquarters’ EP
From Glasgow to Singapore: A driving techno evolution featuring remixes by Javier Ferreira and MRDIE
Nino Blink presents a raw and hypnotic techno EP with remixes by Javier Ferreira and MRDIE.
Originally from Glasgow, but currently based in Singapore, Nino Blink’s sound has evolved from the minimal he released around a decade ago to the driving style of this release.
The release comes via Elektrotribe, which is an imprint run by Moog Conspiracy, and it’s Nino Blink’s first time working with the label.
He was a key player within Scotland’s underground scene, playing regularly at venues like Club 69. Nino Blink has also built up a back catalogue, ranging from classic releases on the likes of Creepy Finger to this debut on Elektrotribe.
“Headquarters” is the title track, and it’s got modulating blips and gritty vocal stabs layered over solid kick drum. Javier Ferreira is an eclectic producer who delivers a breakbeat remix of “Headquarters.”
“MDLR” is the second original track, and it’s got a stripped back sound with dystopian pads and fast-paced rhythms surrounding a swelling arpeggio line.
MRDIE is a German artist who has turned his hand to techno after making minimal for labels like Richie Hawtin’s M-nus. MRDIE’s remix of “MDLR” adds a new melody and bassline to give the track a more in-your-face sound.
