Amsterdam-based hard techno party Verknipt has broken the Guinness World Records title for the “world’s largest laser show”.
The record-breaking attempt took place over the weekend on Saturday, July 19, during Verknipt’s final arena event at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, hosting some 40,000 people.
Just before midnight, a display of 1,100 lasers lit up the arena in a “specially choreographed” lightshow, making it the largest laser display in history.
“We didn’t just break a world record, we’ve written history,” the Verknipt team said. “The energy in the ArenA was indescribable during the special 10-minute Verknipt Experience show.”
“Happiness, excitement, but also deep emotion as we closed this final chapter. This wasn’t just a show, it was a shared moment of connection we’ll carry with us forever.”
The title was previously held by Dubai Racing Club in the United Arab Emirates, with a show consisting of 824 laser emissions during the closing ceremony of the 2021 Dubai World Cup.
Verknipt ArenA also boasted a 360-degree stage design, with a rotating DJ booth in the centre of the room, and a custom laser setup that was “months” in the making, with a display lasting for 10 minutes.
The line-up included the likes of Cloudy B2B NOVAH, Basswell B2B Onlynumbers, Nico Moreno, DYEN B2B Fantasm, Winson, KARAH B2B Klofama, and many more.
