Simon Patterson
Simon Patterson has become a prominent figure in dance music, captivating audiences with his diverse production style that ranges from techy moods to driving basslines, earning him high demand as a DJ, producer, and remixer, further solidified by his exclusive signing to Spinnin’ Records and support from industry giants like Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren; his tracks like "F:1" and "Bulldozer" achieved cult status and critical acclaim, yet it's his electrifying presence behind the decks, characterized by a cutting-edge fusion of trance, techno, and electronica, that truly brings his sound to life, compelling crowds to dance with intensity. His decade-long journey from Belfast to London involved working with major dance labels and shaping the sound of top Radio 1 shows, culminating in Mixmag recognizing him as a future star in 2004. Since then, his passion and knowledge have propelled him to the forefront of the trance elite, evidenced by performances at massive events worldwide, including Rotterdam's 500,000-strong crowd and numerous appearances in Ibiza, Asia, and Russia, alongside gracing the stages of renowned festivals and clubs. Beyond his solo success, Patterson was also one half of Dogzilla, whose genre-defying track "Without You" became Paul van Dyk's track of the year and whose music significantly impacted the club scene; however, in 2008, Patterson embarked on a solo career to further explore his DJing and production ambitions, cementing his status as a major force in dance music with a promising future.
John Askew
John Askew's musical journey took a sharp turn from his teenage years playing guitar in local rock bands when a 1993 rave in Cornwall ignited a passion for electronic music, leading him to trade his guitar for decks and make his club debut in North London in 1994 before securing a residency with the "Code Red" sound system, where he honed a sound influenced by melodic German trance and the tougher beats of artists like CJ Bolland, regularly playing to thousands of underground ravers in the Wiltshire countryside. As police pressure shifted the rave scene from fields to clubs in late 1995, John began warming up for renowned techno DJs, quickly establishing his name and securing bookings at high-profile events like Universe's Final Frontier alongside Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox, which led to regular international gigs across Europe and the US, his distinctive sound described as a blend of Jeff Mills' mixing prowess with Paul van Dyk's record selection. A pivotal moment came with a nationally broadcasted set in Bratislava, sparking his interest in radio, followed by residencies and guest appearances at prominent UK clubs and a 1999 collaboration with Simmer to form Shimmy Recordings, gaining recognition for their unique blend of euphoric melodies and hard beats. In 2000, a touring residency with Universe saw him play 21 gigs alongside top DJs, culminating in a New Year's Eve performance at Ministry of Sound's millennium event, which earned him a residency at the iconic London club. Since 2001, John has further championed his musical vision through his label Discover Records, known for its trendsetting sound and firm stance against what he considers the negative clichés in modern trance, and he continues to captivate dance floors worldwide with his distinctive DJ sets at major clubs and festivals, reflecting his discerning taste for high-quality, emotive music shaped by his rock band background.
