Movement Music Festival and 1xRUN have announced legendary artist, musician, and cultural icon Goldie as the Artist-In-Residence for the festival’s 2025 edition. As part of his residency, Goldie will create Love: Detroit, a large-scale mural installation on-site at the festival featuring his signature graffiti work. The mural will be located at the Pyramid Amphitheatre inside Hart Plaza and will be available for festival attendees to visit during event hours on May 24-26.
“I’m bringing some proper graff to Detroit for Movement Festival,” said Goldie. The mural is called Love: Detroit, by yours truly. I’ll be painting my love for this city's integral musical history, standing on the shoulders of the giants who built it.”
Beyond the festival grounds, Goldie will debut a special solo exhibition titled Still Life Talking at Spot Lite Detroit on May 23. In Still Life Talking, Goldie delves into the interplay between motion and stillness, capturing the essence of life's fleeting moments. Reflecting on his journey, Goldie states:
"I look at my life as a set of photographs because I was before all of this, the Internet, etc. I knew documenting my life was important. I felt I could get somewhere, I felt I could do something. In the modern age it feels like people's colour photographs just changed to black-and-white and they don’t really notice over time. I’ve always been about the now, in the present, in the moment. Life moves so fast it looks like it stands still, like a hummingbird, but it’s moving constantly, creating and evolving itself in my slow photograph of time.”

Let’s go,” said Goldie.

“The festival started on a high note and ended on an even higher one. It’s common for festivals to calm down as each day goes by as people get tired – Movement did just the opposite. The energy picked up, outfits got cuter and the weather got hotter. And the nights didn’t end with the festival; people went straight to the afterparties and partied until the sun came up every single day.” - OFFICE
