Valentino Khan started out his career as a hip-hop producer, making music for artists including 2 Chains and T.I, before his remix for Diplo’s track ‘Holler’ on Mad Decent was something that put his name on the map and was following with more collaborations and remixes with Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Dillon Francis, Gesaffelstein and Calvin Harris.
He co-produced Major Lazer’s 2013 single ‘Bubble Butt’ and his single ‘Deep Down Low’ peaked at No.1. on Billboards Emerging Artist chart.
Taking his hand to techno, showcasing his hard hitting bass heavy sound for his debut on Farrago’s Vermillion Trax on the 6th December with a remix of ’Addicted To Bass’ - a collab track with Amelie Lens that was released in 2023 on his debut album ‘Blessed’.
With his new venture into the world of techno, Valntino tells us the 5 top tracks that guided his sound.
OMNOM feat. XKYLAR "By Myself"
This track is one of my favorites at the moment. I love OMNOM’s sound. The bed of music is dark and suspenseful and perfectly compliment’s XKYLAR’s vocals. I enjoy tracks that have a uniqueness to the sound design and this is definitely one of them. Chris Lorenzo x
Amyl and The Sniffers "U Should Not Be Doing That (Chris Lorenzo Remix)"
Chris has always pushed the sound forward with his productions. I’m loving the fact that this feels like a throwback to blog house era indie dance but with a modern twist. It’s cool to draw inspiration from certain sounds that marked our earlier years and then flip them on their head.
Lowdown "1990"
This is a great new age take on 90’s rave music. There’s a certain rawness to the track while the drums stay perfectly punchy. I think a good barometer for a great riff is when you can listen to it on loop and not get sick of it and that’s certainly the case here. Lowdown is definitely a producer to keep an eye on.
Basura Boyz & FENIK "Escape"
I’ve been rinsing this record in all my sets. These guys are two of my favorite producers that are fast on the rise. The rolling baseline really drives this track. The vocal is super catchy too. Love how this record gels with all the distorted bendy bass hits as well. Marco
Strous "In The Park"
When I first started gaining interest in becoming a music producer, the one question that drew me to certain records was if it evoked the question “WTF is that?” This is definitely one of those tracks. This was the song that introduced me to Marco, who is an extremely talented producer. Another name to definitely look out
