Clif Jack Reimagines a Mauro Picotto Classic 'Komodo' (Save A Soul)
The Italian producers joins Armada to reimagine a trance classic
Mauro Picotto is a techno legend and trance icon whose music crossed over into the mainstream at the peak of his career in the early ‘00s.
One of Mauro’s biggest tracks was his anthemic “Komodo (Save A Soul)” that combined a catchy melody and a chantable vocal with driving percussion delivering an upbeat energy.
Still an influential figure within electronic music, Mauro Picotto is a veteran producer who remains one of Italy’s most accomplished electronic music artists.
Clif Jack is a techno artist leading the next generation of Italian electronic music talent, and he has been given the privilege of reimagining “Komodo (Save A Soul).”
The reimagined version by Clif Jack is part of a series on Armada Music, where they are inviting artists to revisit Mauro Picotto classics. Clif Jack has earned this privilege, following him releasing popular tracks on record labels such as Filth on Acid, and his own MJA the Vision.
They have accredited the rework as “Mauro Picotto & Clif Jack - Komodo (Save A Soul).” It’s a nice touch to list the track as a collaboration, and it has all the hallmarks of the original. Its melody fades in alongside a new acid synth, and the original’s standout vocals are used in the breakdown sections.
It has gritty drums that are in line with the tracks Clif Jack has released as a solo artist, and the remix presents the track to a new generation of clubbers.
