From House to Techno: yofellas Drop All About EP
The Grammy-nominated duo realse peak-time techno on a two-part, four-track release via Clif Jack’s MJA the Vision.
Duo yofellas release their All About EP, which split into two parts, contains a total of four peak time techno tracks on Clif Jack’s renowned label MJA the Vision.
The Italian pair first cut their teeth as house artists, and in 2014 earned a Grammy nomination for their track "Lost On You," but these last couple of years they have reinvented themselves as techno artists.
yofellas make techno that has intense energy, and each of the tracks on this new release have a style similar to others such as Space 92 or Adam Beyer.
The first part of All About is opened by the EP’s title track, which has the namesake vocal sample warped into trippy fragments, while pulsating bass tones and a hammering kick drum hold the groove steady. “No Matter” is on the flipside of Part 1, and its peak time groove has vigorous melody stabs, which subside for a tranquil breakdown that has heartfelt vocals.
The second part of the EP leads with "U Me 2," and it is built around a rising bassline that swells with pulses of energy, while rhythmic stabs cut through the trippy vocals. “Yes But Not” is last of the tracks, and it’s got flickers of acid playing call and response with white noise bursts, but its defining feature are the spine-tingling pads of the cosmic breakdowns.
Overall, this is a well-rounded release that has already received support from Adam Beyer, Anna Reusch, and Paco Osuna.
