Spain’s MASA Series is a new record label that combines deep techno and classic electro cuts under one roof. The new release presents the talents of HAL and Perm, here the dynamic duo hailing from Germany show their production expertise in a captivating narrative across six tracks, each a distinct chapter in a meticulously crafted music novel.

Having released on labels like Inland aka Ed Davenport's Counterchange to Uncanny Valley, the pair have unearthed and found long-lost treasures for this vinyl and digital release titled ‘MASA 006.’ They have also perfectly captured the ageless attraction of techno's eternal delight by drawing on influences such as early Detroit-style analogue grooves, as well as niches such as dub techno. These tracks are a melting pot of warm and fuzzy textures that will touch the soul and can be enjoyed as home listening treats or locked and loaded to a discerning DJs record box all the same.

Tapping into the audio itself, “Wittow” is a solo effort from HAL leaning into the dub techno ethos of subtle chords and its lush bouncing groove. “Xyloflux” joins the two artists together for the first time on the EP and also ups the tempo with modular glistens, a rolling bassline and claps with effects for a unique feeling. With its strong hook of delayed, hypnotic chords, "Ujë Shiu" adds yet another style variant that’s a really satisfying listen. The next track "Omu" gradually reveals itself as a spacious composition shaping an encompassing soundscape that entices the listener to immerse themselves in its atmospheric charm. The rhythmic beats pulse and the subtle textures unfold, imparting a refreshing feeling of weightlessness. In the EP's second collaborative effort called "Tenure Track I" sees a notable pinnacle emerge. A powerful sub bassline and metallic, pulsating beats serve as its main structural elements. Their musical conversation attains unprecedented levels, forging an encounter that pushes beyond the conventional confines of traditional techno. Concluding the EP, we encounter the digital bonus track, "Loon Garden." This delicate and exuberant venture into broken beats welcomes HAL's versatility. Infused with playful elements such as quirky percussion and congas, the track constructs a twist to finish off this fabulous collection.
