“Distorted Information” is the fourth single from dutch-canadian electronic music producer apaull’s second album, Homogeny. Science, how it is practiced and how it is reported, has changed considerably over the last fifty years. Produced as the embers of the pandemic began to extinguish, the track is built around a sample of a public official declaring “We own the science” and reflects on how science (and academia in general) has once again been captured for political and otherwise unscholarly purposes. Musically, the track is built around a staccato baseline, feedback infused keys and string-like melody, with the aforementioned sample driving home the point.
