Studio Ghibli Releases Hard Techno Remixes of Film' Iconic Theme Songs
Longtime Ghibli master composer, J.Hisaishi, is a regular at Berghain and “loves hard techno bangers”.
Coinciding with the internet’s rage of Studio Ghibli AI reimaginations, the illustrious Japanese animation studio has announced a forthcoming remix album turning its beloved film scores into pounding hard techno bangers.
The project was greenlit after a shocking revelation: longtime Ghibli master composer, J.Hisaishi, is a regular at Berghain and “loves hard techno bangers”.
“I’ve always wanted to explore this side of my musical passion. Every Ghibli score I’ve written starts as a hard techno track—Miyazaki hates it, obviously—but hey, the journey matters. And mine begins with bangers.”
- Hisaishi on his surprising musical process
On this hard techno odyssey, Hisaishi teamed up with little-known producer S:V:S—mistakenly thinking he was Miyazaki’s nephew. When asked about the mix-up, Hisaishi said, “Regardless of the mistake, it turned out great given the effort and money we put in… which was basically nothing.”
"I’ve loved Ghibli since I was a kid, but I have no idea why they picked me—I don’t even make hard techno. No one asked for this. I’m hoping that my children and future generations will forgive me.”
- S:V:S on his involvement with this atrocity
“I didn’t care what people thought. The album was meant for Ghibli’s anniversary but with the current popularity of stealing Sensei Miyazaki’s iconic style- we decided to take advantage of this trend and release the tracks now.
Suck it internet.”
- Hisaishi on the timing of the release
Can we expect more hard remixes from this famed studio and music composer? Only time will tell.
