Boom Merchant is back on Autektone Dark with his second EP for the label, and it features three of his dark and intense techno tracks with peak time energy. All of the tracks are of an exceptional quality, and the EP showcases Boom Merchant to be a master of finding the perfect balance between atmosphere and energy.
Focused directly at the dance floor, the release has a hypnotic ferocity, which gets people locked into the groove. It’s easy to see how a crowd of clubbers would be captivated by these tracks, as each of them would have its place in a peak time DJ set.
First up, “Picnic” has eerie pads and trippy vocals that are sandwiched between fast-paced hi-hats and a wonky bassline.
The EP’s title track, “Free Dinner” is second on the release. It’s an earth-shaking track with a gritty aesthetic powered by a heavy bassline and booming kick drum, and its vocal adds a light-hearted element to the otherwise serious vibe.
Last on the release, “Drop,” brings the EP to a close with a grinding bassline and rhythmic vocal tones, which are built on a rigid framework of pounding percussion.
